Interview with Roseline Yang, French-Chinese Interpreter
From which country do you come?
I am originally from China and have been living in Europe for over 10 years. I completed my studies in economics and tourism in Switzerland before starting my career in a major French company.
What do you like most about this institution?
The French civilization courses at the Sorbonne offer a wide variety of training programs. I am personally taking courses in business French, general French, and French civilization. Students also have the opportunity to study literature, poetry, and art. Private lessons help to improve writing and oral expression. It’s a real gateway to French culture.
What has been the major challenge in learning French so far?
The main difficulty I encounter is in reading comprehension. Although I love to read, I don’t always understand what the author is trying to express. My goal is to be able to read books on philosophy, novels, or poetry. I spend a lot of time at the National Library for my research on French civilization, especially literature, gastronomy, and art. My professors at the French civilization courses of the Sorbonne have greatly helped me in these research efforts.
